Today I am going to show you my quick morning routine. In this video I will also share some of my thoughts on how to make cleaning a time of reflection and contentment and how to change your paradigm when it comes to cleaning. I will also touch upon to stop neglecting your space and put quick systems in place in order to make cleaning an act of contentment that becomes a routine and eventually a habit that doesn’t take away from your life but add value to it.
You may love your home and appreciate it, but many of us go through periods of dissatisfaction of our homes and want more. There is nothing wrong with dreaming or having goals to upgrade your space, but as part of the dream we need to remember that it is critical to also be present and be grateful for where we are right at this moment. This involves a mental change in perspective--a paradigm shift of sorts. Think about the areas of your home that bother you and begin to brainstorm how you can fix these areas. Begin to give your space some love and attention and see how your dreams will blossom. Think about the first time you got this space. Think of how grateful and excited you were. The more you love you home, the more you will have the desire to take care of it. When you shift your paradigm, you will feel inspired to pick up that pile of dirty (or clean laundry) on the floor and put it away, you will begin to put your things way and give each item a “home”. Love your home and it will love you back.
There are many things you can do while cleaning. You can play music or listen to an audiobook to get you energized. You can also use a form of meditation while cleaning by repeating affirmations out loud that remind you of your gratefulness and love of your current space (i.e. I love my home, I love a clean home, I love having a safe place to come home to). Let’s be realistic, while doing this, many of us are pressed for time so I would recommend using a timer while devoting time to cleaning your home. My routine in the morning gets 15 minutes...so set a time and stick to it...with a contented heart.
Take a look at your week and assign chores to days of the week that make most sense. Have your routine suite your life and not RUN your life. Try to break up tasks to manageable chunks or days of the week so that you have the time to move on from cleaning and enjoy your space and your family.
Remember changing your paradigm and perspective starts with you NOT your circumstances. Be content with where you are. Breathe and smile. Enjoy the simple things but also remember that it is OK to want more and strive for more...We also just need to balance that with loving where we are right now.
